Is it not entirely possible that they may have purchased it with the intention of offering it as a separate option the way AV vendors do with their IS versions? Or perhaps they planned to keep it standalone, rebrand it as their own and alter its code as they wish to make whatever improvements they desire and then release it as a separate free or paid tool? That's what they did with ADWCleaner, did they not?
